now seeking co-facilitators for fall 2023 communities of practice

apply to co-facilitate a community of practice on a topic of your choice!

communities of practice (cops) provide a unique opportunity for 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 members to join peers across the country to dig deeper into specific areas of engagement practice. through discussions, joint activities, resource sharing, and relationship building, participants develop a repertoire of resources, skills, and knowledge to use in their practice. above all, the cops provide a great space to communicate and share strategies with like-minded individuals from across the country!

we’re seeking co-facilitators for fall 2023 to lead communities focused on a variety of topics of their choice. this is a great opportunity for those who are seeking a national leadership opportunity in the field of civic and community engagement. apply by august 18 at https://compact.smapply.io/prog/faccopfall2023/.

topics for 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 communities of practice are limitless—as long as they bring folks together around a common area of inquiry and encourage the following: 

  • continued conversations around civic and community engagement in educational spaces
  •  discussions of emerging and pressing issues of the moment 
  •  space to collectively imagine new approaches and innovative practices in our field around a specific topic or challenge 
  • support for peers and colleagues interested in earning 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 community engagement professional credentials
  • dialogue around recent developments in the field and best practices to approach those changes

when considering a topic for suggestion, feel free to draw inspiration from recent cops hosted by 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 :

  • civic life in academia: creating educational pathways in civic engagement for students on college campuses
    examining the challenges in designing, hosting, and managing a minor in civic life, or a like minor or major, on college campuses 
  • transformative discourse across differences: designing intentional structured learning opportunities for civic learning and democratic engagement
    integrating intentional structured learning opportunities into existing practices to encourage dialogue across difference
  • using community engagement to fight misinformation 
    examining the ways in which community engagement can be leveraged on college campuses to prevent the spread of misinformation within student communities
  • collaboration for better practice: creating synergy across all sectors to better impact the field
    building collaborative relationships between industry, government and academia to achieve "glocal" (global and local) sustainable development goals

applying

  • participation in cops is a benefit of 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 membership. your institution must be a member for you to apply.
  • all cops are co-facilitated. if you have a partner in mind, you will be able to nominate someone as part of your application. if you do not have a nomination, we will pair you with someone with similar interests.
  • 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 will notify co-facilitators in august.

expectations

  • co-facilitators will collaborate to lead their cop from september through november 2023.
  • all co-facilitators are required to attend 1 of 2 orientations. the orientation will provide an overview of expectations, an introduction to resources provided by 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 , and a review of past cop agendas. 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 staff will be available to support co-facilitators throughout the semester.
  • co-facilitators are responsible for organizing meetings for their cop and responding to reflections and assessments regarding cops when requested.
  • co-facilitators are required to hold 6 meetings between september and november. co-facilitators set their own meeting schedule in collaboration with 卡塔尔vs厄瓜多尔亚盘 .
